Are You Eligible?

An NHS eye test can be carried out at home if you are usually entitled to a free NHS eye test but cannot get to an optician unaccompanied due to physical or mental illness, or disability. Examples include:

• Cognitive impairment
• Dementia
• Severe arthritis
• Diagnosed mental illness
• Mobility or memory affecting conditions
• Illness requiring constant medication (e.g., oxygen)
• Temporary medical reasons preventing leaving home
• Medical professional has advised you not to leave home without help

NHS Sight Test Entitlement includes:

• Aged 60 or over
• Sight-impaired or severely sight-impaired
• Diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma
• Considered at risk of glaucoma as advised by an ophthalmologist
• Aged 40+ with family history of glaucoma
• Receiving certain benefits or NHS tax credit exemption certificates
